Fastnet Rock Colt Tops at Karaka Day Two

It was more of the same at the NZB Premier Yearling Sale on Tuesday with a Fastnet Rock colt from American bred import Beyond the Sunset topping the second session when knocked down for $700,000. Consigned for sale by Pencarrow Stud, the handsome bay was bought by David Ellis and is a half-brother to Group II winner Te Akau Coup and three-quarter brother to stakes-winner Don Garcia. "Every one of my team listed this fellow at the top their ratings for the sale and I was determined to secure him,” Ellis said. "To me he looks world class and after visiting a number of sales around the globe I think he would be a standout in any auction ring.” Fastnet Rock sired the top four overall lots at this sale, his colt from Katie Lee topping the sale at $800,000 and his filly from Miss Scarlatti the top priced filly at $700,000. Fastnet Rock finished as the leading sire by average with 16 youngsters averaging $352,188.
