Fastnet Rock Colt Tops NZB Ready to Run

A colt by champion sire Fastnet Rock has topped the 2012 NZB Ready to Run Sale in New Zealand on Wednesday fetching $480,000. The star colt was consigned by Mana Park and knocked down to James Harron Bloodstock on behalf of well-known Sydney based owners Dr Edmund and Belinda Bateman. The colt will be trained by Gai Waterhouse and is bred on the same cross as four-time Group I winner Mosheen being the first foal of Stravinsky mare Oraia (USA), a half-sister to Grade I winner Golden Opinion. "I came here looking for a couple of horses and missed out on a few on day one, but I had my sights firmly set on this Fastnet Rock colt as I thought he was the pick of the Sale,” commented Harron. "It has been a very successful bloodline cross, which I liked, but primarily he is a fantastic type and has a pedigree littered with speed.” Second highest lot on offer was an Encosta de Lago colt from Note of Desire that made $360,000, while High Chaparral had the third highest priced lot with a colt from Tycoon’s Gold selling for $350,000.
