Fastnet Rock in demand at Deauville

A mare in foal to Fastnet Rock made 850,000 euros at Arqana’s December Sale on Saturday at a session when the outstanding sire made a big impression in the Deauville auction ring. Spin (4m Galileo-Pieds De Plume, by Seattle Slew) brought 850,000 euros after selling to Nicolas de Watrigant of the Mandore International agency. “She has a super pedigree that features horses like Plumania and Falco. She is a young mare in foal to the best stallion in Australia and she will stay in France. We have heard that her two-year-old full-sister, Moth, is very talented,” de Watrigant told EBN. The eight-year-old Believe Me (8m In The Wings-Golden Wings, by Devil’s Bag) was another Fastnet Rock-covered mare in demand. She was bought for 270,000 euros by Katsumi Yoshida. Meanwhile, Fastnet Rock was also responsible for the joint top-priced foal at the sale, a 150,000 euros filly out of G3 winner Chaibia (by Peintre Celebre) offered from Haras du Cadran. Buyer Mags O’Toole commented: “She is the nicest Fastnet Rock we have seen in the past two weeks. He has produced some unbelievable foals and I hope he has the same success here as in Australia.”
