Felix Yonger (6g Oscar-Marble Sound, by Be My Native) booked his ticket to the Cheltenham Festival on Sunday when leading home a 1-2 for Oscar in the G2 paddypower.com Novice Hurdle at Naas.
The six-year-old, trained by Willie Mullins for Andrea and Graham Wylie, came home three lengths clear of Dressedtothenines (5m Oscar-Regal Holly, by Gildoran) to land the two-mile contest and Mullins now has a couple of novice hurdle options at Cheltenham.
“He is a super mover and I don’t think he is a winter horse. I think he’ll be better on better ground in the spring,” Mullins told EBN. “I imagine he’ll be good enough to travel (to Cheltenham) if we want to but I’ll have a word with Mr Wylie and see what he wants to do. He shows plenty of gears at home and I think he’ll improve again.”
Felix Yonger, who was bred by J Brophy, was bought by the Wylies after finishing second on his debut in a Leopardstown bumper in December 2010.
