Talented colt Finale (2c Scat Daddy x Twinkle, by Lively One) has really hit his straps since switching to turf and claimed his biggest win to date in the Grade III Summer Stakes at Woodbine.
The Todd Pletcher trained colt was slowly away, but quickly recovered to put himself into contention and then finished off well to win the one mile contest by three parts of a length over Excaper with another Scat Daddy in Daddy Nose Best (2c Scat Daddy x Follow Your Bluss, by Thunder Gulch) in third place.
Raced by Mrs John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith, Finale has improved at every outing with three wins and a third placing from his five starts to date and prizemoney of $237,345.
Finale is now in a position to emulate last year’s smart juvenile colt Pluck, who won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf after also winning the Grade III Summer Stakes for Todd Pletcher.
A $175,000 Keeneland November Weanling purchase, Finale is a half-brother to Grade III winner Bright One and is one of five winners from the good producer Twinkle.
Currently the leading first crop sire in North America, Scat Daddy also added a 15th winner to his tally with a debut victory for Scat Baby (2f Scat Daddy x Rosieville, by Boston Harbor) at Retama Park.
