Shanghai Bobby – the only horse to win the BC Juvenile, Hopeful S. and Champagne S. – sired his first foal at Creekview Farm on Friday night.
The dark bay colt is the second foal out of the blue-blooded Opulence, an unraced daughter of champion sire Giant’s Causeway and the champion racemare Rags To Riches.
“We are delighted with Shanghai Bobby’s first foal. He’s a correct colt with plenty of substance and is a strong color just like his sire,” commented Ashford Stud manager Dermot Ryan.
Opulence will now be bred to War Front’s brilliant son Declaration of War who also stands at Ashford Stud.
Shanghai Bobby is probably the best son of champion 2yo sire Harlan’s Holiday and his 2015 fee is $15,000.
