The Bob Baffert trained Fed Biz (3c Giant’s Causeway x Spunoutacontrol, by Wild Again) posted his first Black Type success when taking out the $100,000 El Cajon Stakes at Del Mar.
Fourth on debut at Hollywood on November 27, Fed Biz has reeled off three successive wins since then and is clearly on an upswing.
A son of champion sire Giant’s Causeway, was always up in contention, but had to dig deep to beat off Jimmy Creed to win the one mile contest by a neck.
“That was quite a horse race,” said winning trainer Bob Baffert.
“Two really nice horses going at it. I was thinking about running [him] in the sprint [Pirate’s Bounty S., Sept. 5] but I really didn’t want to sprint him because I have some bigger things in mind. I told Joe, ‘Don’t win by a lot’ and he followed my instructions.”
A $950,000 Keeneland September Yearling purchase, Fed Biz runs for Kaleem Shah and is a half-brother to stakes-winner Spun Silk from the stakes-winner Spunoutacontrol, who is a half-sister to Grade I winner Minardi, Grade II winner and leading sire Tale of the Cat as well as the dam of champion 2YO and successful sire Johannesburg.
Fed Biz is the 112th stakes-winner for champion sire Giant’s Causeway.
