Champion racehorse and promising sire Duke Of Marmalade sired his first stakes-winner in France when promising filly Morning Frost (3f Duke Of Marmalade x Evening Time, by Keltos) captured the Listed Prix Ronde de Nuit at Chantilly.
The well regarded Christophe Ferland trained filly, a 47,000gns Tattersalls yearling purchase, showed promise last year and has obviously returned in good order judging by this fast finishing win.
She settled near the rear before charging home to win the six and a half furlong contest by three parts of a length, her overall record now two wins and a placing from just four starts.
“We’ve always thought a lot of this filly,” said Ferland. Morning Frost holds an entry in the French 1,000 Guineas-Gr.1 and may run next in the Prix Imprudence-Gr.3.
Morning Frost becomes the first stakes-winner for Duke Of Marmalade, who is also the sire of stakes-placed performers Count Of Limonade and Horizon Sky.
She is also the first stakes-winner for her dam Evening Time, a Listed winner and multiple Group III placed daughter of Keltos.
