Exciting young sire Majestic Warrior was the leading US freshman sire by individual winners for 2012, but the only thing missing was a stakes-winner, which has now arrived in the shape of brilliant filly Princess of Sylmar (3f Majestic Warrior x Storm Dixie, by Catienus).
Prepared by Todd Pletcher, Princess of Sylmar made a one act affair of the $100,000 Busanda Stakes at Aqueduct, powering away over the concluding stages to win the 1m and 70yd contest by more than seven lengths.
Unlucky when she missed the start and finished fourth on debut back in October, Princess of Sylmar has not put a foot wrong since then in reeling off three consecutive wins at her next three starts culminating in her first Black Type success.
She is the first stakes-winner for her sire Majestic Warrior and the first winner for stakes-placed Storm Dixie, a half-sister to Grade III winner Rhythm Band.
The sire of 30 first crop winners, Majestic Warrior stands this year at a fee of $12,500.
