He’s racing royalty being a brother to two champions which is why the first win for blue-blooded colt Kimurasun (3c Fusaichi Pegasus x Circles of Gold, by Marscay) is making the news.
Tony Vasil knows a thing or two about the progeny of Group I AJC Oaks winner Circles of Gold, having trained her two champion sons Elvstroem and Haradasun, the astute trainer producing the latest winner for the mare at Cranbourne on Sunday in the shape of three year-old colt Kimurasun.
A full brother to triple Group I winner Haradasun, being by Fusaichi Pegasus, Kimurasun improved on his close debut second at Bendigo on March 4 to win the 1500 metre maiden by three-quarters of a length.
A touch slow to jump, Kimurasun took a while to muster speed before working through to be fourth on the fence and when he finally got clear running in the straight dashed home to score well.
Foaled and raised at Coolmore, Kimurasun is the seventh winner from nine foals to race for Marscay mare Circles of Gold, who has been a fabulous producer for her owner Frank Tagg and his partners.
The current yearling from Circles of Gold, a chestnut colt by Tale of the Cat will be offered by Coolmore as agent at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale as Lot 103.
