Former Champion Three Year Old and Royal Ascot hero Haradasun posted his first winner at Ballarat on Thursday in the shape of highly impressive filly Hot Fever (2f Haradasun x Campbell Fever, by Bluebird), who bolted in on debut.
Carrying the colours of BC3 Thoroughbreds, the Kevin Newby trained filly was well fancied by punters on the strength of a recent barrier trial win at Cranbourne.
After travelling sweetly in fourth place for Danny Nikolic , she quickly accelerated when given clear running in the straight, bounding away in the final furlong to win the 1100 metre maiden by two and three-quarter lengths.
A $145,000 purchase for BC3 Thoroughbreds from the Bellagio Lodge draft at the 2011 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Hot Fever is a half-sister to stakes-winner Woppitt and stakes-placed Dane Fever and Swinging Bachelor being one of seven winners from terrific producer Campbell Fever.
Foaled and raised at Fairhill Farm for her breeder Richard Pietrykowski, the filly was sold originally at the Inglis Select Weanling Sale for $110,000.
Hot Fever becomes the first winner for triple Group I winner Haradasun, who was overdue for a winner following four previous place-getters.
