Four Straight for Callanish

Reformed barrier rogue Callanish (4g Fastnet Rock x Dancing Doll, by Dance Floor) made it four straight wins when he scored again at Sandown on Wednesday. The Mick Price trained four year old son of Fastnet Rock has been a handful in the past, but seems to have got himself under control this preparation and may yet deliver on his considerable potential. Partnered by regular rider Dale Smith, Callanish scored a neck win in the Benchmark 89 event over 1400 metres in very heavy conditions from dead heaters Jugahlation and Great Player, his overall record now four wins and $64,551 in prizemoney. A $320,000 purchase from the Curraghmore Stud draft at the 2010 NZB Premier Yearling Sale for his trainer, Callanish is a half-brother to Group III winner Dancing Daggers and is from Dancing Doll, who comes from the family of Group I winners Blevic, Universal Prince and Universal Queen. Callanish appears to have stakes potential for spring and joins a host of promising up and comers for Fastnet Rock including horses such as Ninth Legion, Your Song and Nechita.
