Kempton’s G1 King George VI Chase is the next stop for Golan Way (7g Golan-Silk Daisy, by Barathea) following the seven-year-old’s impressive success at Sandown on Friday.
Sheena West’s charge took the Listed Future Stars Chase by three and a quarter lengths from Benbane Head to book his place in the famous December 26 contest.
“The entry in the King George wasn’t a haphazard thing,” West told the Racing Post. “But he had to show what he could do before it and he has – we’ve got to go there.
“It’s great for a little yard like ours and we have to take our chance as we don’t often get them.”
Golan Way, who was a G2-winning novice hurdler, was bred in Wales by Lewis Caterers and has now scored eight times in National Hunt races.
