G2 for improving Fastnet Rock colt One Foot In Heaven

One Foot In Heaven (4c Fastnet Rock-Pride, by Peintre Celebre) notched his third black-type victory of 2016 on Sunday when looking seemingly better than ever to win the G2 Grand Prix de Chantilly. The Fastnet Rock colt - out of three-time G1 winner Pride - was settled towards the rear by Christophe Soumillon before hitting the front a furlong and a half from home, holding off Garlingari to win by three-quarters lot a length.

One Foot In Heaven, who was bred by Craigavon Agro Ltd and carries the same colours as Pride, won the G3 Prix d’Hedouville at Saint-Cloud on his previous start and would be no surprise to see trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre now target a G1 prize.

“He gets better and has that fantastic turn of foot of his mother and adapts to everything,” said de Royer-Dupre. “Still I feel he needs a little break now, so he will not go to the G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and will instead come back in September.”
