There was another smart Group-winning filly for Montjeu at Deauville on Sunday when the John Hammond-trained Sarah Lynx (4 f Montjeu-Steel Princess, by Danehill) took the feature G2 Prix de Pomone in good style.
Christophe Soumillon, who had flown back overnight from America after riding at Arlington, steered his mount to an impressive length and a half success as she saw off some youthful opponents with ease.
Hammond is now eyeing up a couple of G1 targets for Sarah Lynx, who was bred in Ireland by Grangecon Stud.
“It was an inspired ride by Christophe. I don’t suppose there is much choice other than the G1 Prix Vermeille,” Hammond told www.racingpost.com. “However, that race is looking very competitive this year and another option would be the G1 Flower Bowl Invitational at in New York.”
