Galileo superstar Minding back with a bang

Seven-time G1 winner Minding (4f Galileo-Lillie Langtry, by Danehill Dancer) looks sure to add to her big-race tally after a cosy comeback victory at Naas on Monday. Ryan Moore only had to ask his mount for minimal effort as she quickened clear of the field in the G2 Camelot Irish EBF Mooresbridge Stakes to record a three and a half length victory. Trainer Aidan O’Brien reported that the Galileo filly’s most likely next start was the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh later in May. “We were very happy with that,” said O’Brien. “She was enthusiastic, she settled when she was asked to go on a bit and then quickened very well. She’s changed from three to four to look at, she’s made good progress physically. This was a starting point for her. “She’s not short of pace and she has options including the G1 Lockinge Stakes and the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup. We’d probably love to be thinking about the Tattersalls and go on from there. She’s a rare thing that can go any distance but we’d be thinking mile and a quarter for the moment.”

Minding’s victory could kickstart a big week for Galileo, who has the hot favourites for this weekend’s 2,000 Guineas and 1,000 Guineas, respectively Churchill (2c Galileo-Meow, by Storm Cat) and Rhododendron (2f Galileo-Halfway To Heaven, by Pivotal).
