Galileo's Magician casts spell on Chester

Magician (3c Galileo-Absolutelyfabulous, by Mozart) added to Galileo’s burgeoning collection of Derby prospects on Friday when running away with the G3 Dee Stakes at Chester. The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt, a six-length maiden winner at two, took the extended 10-furlong contest by an easy four lengths under Ryan Moore. He was scoring 24 hours after his stablemate Ruler Of The World (3c Galileo-Love Me True, by Kingmambo), Duke Of Marmalade’s Galileo half-brother, won the G3 Chester Vase. Moore commented: “Magician felt like a very nice horse. He was relaxed going around there and when I asked he quickened up very well. He's got plenty of pace. He and Ruler Of The World are different sorts but they are both good ones.” Kevin Buckley, Coolmore's UK representative, added: “Magician was very impressive and I liked the way he switched off during the race. He showed a lot of acceleration when Ryan pressed the button. “It was nice to see Ryan come back in with a big smile on his face and the horse gave him a great feel. Although there is speed on Magician’s page he was not pulling up on the line today.”
