Downtown Getaway (Getaway) winning a bumper at Fairyhouse

Getaway debut bumper winner "could be Cheltenham horse"

Getaway looks to have another high-class prospect in Downtown Getaway (4g Getaway-Shang A Lang, by Commander Collins) enjoyed an effortless debut success at Fairyhouse on Sunday. Katie Walsh was in the saddle in what looked a classy bumper and, after hitting the front two out, coasted home to a 12-length success.

Trainer Mags Mullins, who bred the winner with co-owner Peter Magnier, believes that Downtown Getaway could develop into a candidate for the G1 Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival.

“He’s a lovely horse and is from the Miss Muppet family. He’s unassuming at home and just does what he has to do. He jumps well and does everything lovely,” said Mullins. “He worked lovely up here last year and we were going to run him in the spring but the ground dried out a bit and we threw him out (for the summer). He could be a Cheltenham horse.”
