Coolmore stallions featured prominently on the leading sires lists for Northern American based sires at the close of 2012.
Giant’s Causeway has finished 2012 as the leading North American based sire on Northern Hemisphere earnings according to US Bloodhorse.
It’s the third such title in the past four years for the multiple Group I winning son of Storm Cat, who was also Champion North American sire in 2009 and 2010.
Giant’s Causeway sired the winners of some $10. 1 million in earnings highlighted by recent Grade I winner Book Review, who is among his 26 stakes-winners for 2012.
In the first season sires division, former star miler Henrythenavigator was the top freshman sire by earnings courtesy of his two Grade I winners in George Vancouver (USA) and Pedro the Great (Ireland), while Majestic Warrior was the leading freshman sire by individual winners with 30 to his credit.
In the second season sires division Scat Daddy again proved his worth finishing second on earnings with some 61 winners of $5.7 million led by dual Grade I winner Lady of Shamrock and Grade II UAE Derby hero Daddy Long Legs.
All stallions will stand at Ashford Stud in 2013 with the exception of Henrythenavigator who is transferring across to Ireland.
