A colt by champion sire Giant’s Causeway topped the first day of trade at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale when fetching $200,000.
Consigned by Gainesway, the colt was purchased by Nick de Meric and is from the Woodman mare Lerici, a half-sister to the dam of Grade III winner Grasshopper.
“He was a horse who was actually entered in Keeneland September, but he came up with a little blemish, so we scratched him, gave him some time, and brought him here,” explained Michael Hernon of Gainesway.
“The rest is history.”
“He is by a superior sire, he’s got a good pedigree, and he made it onto all the lists of the leading buyers. He stood out in the crowd here.”
