Grade III Winner for Scat Daddy

Progressive four year-old Scatman (4h Scat Daddy x Hit it Here Café, by Grand Slam) turned in a career best performance to win the Grade III Aristides Stakes at Churchill Downs on Saturday.

Now with Bill Mott, Scatman was placed in Graded company last year with his previous trainer, but seems to have improved for his new stable.

Scatman settled off the pace and charged home out wide, fighting strongly to the line to beat off the tenacious Jasizzle to win the six furlong contest by a neck.

Scatman has the overall record of five wins and five placings from 16 starts with prizemoney in excess of $314,000.

A homebred for Jim and Ellen O’Grady of Black Mountain, NC, Scatman provided them with their first stakes win.

“It’s very exciting, especially to happen here at Churchill,” said Jim O’Grady.

He is the best of three winners from handy producer Hit it Here Cafe, a half-sister by Grand Slam to Grade III winner Strawberry Morn, the dam of UK Grade II winner Strawberrydaiquiri.

Scatman is the 15th stakes-winner for leading young sire Scat Daddy.
