Late bloomer Guilty Twelve (5m Giant’s Causeway x Arkadina, by Danehill) produced a career best performance to claim her first Black Type win with a tenacious victory in the $200,500 Grade III Robert G Dick Memorial Stakes at Delaware Park.
Trained in Europe as a young horse by Roger Varian, she was switched to the North American stable of Graham Motion last year.
She surged late from back in the field to snare a nose victory in a tight three way finish to the one and 3/8th mile contest.
A homebred for Merry Fox Stables, Guilty Twelve has won four of ten starts and is a half-sister to stakes-winner Iltemas.
She is a valuable mare now with a Black Type win on board and a pedigree that features champion sire Montjeu and Group I winners Again, Goldream and Galileo Gold.
