Favorite Tale (Tale Of The Cat)

Grade Two Win for Tale of the Cat Sprinter

Talented sprinter Favorite Tale (4g Tale of the Cat x Tricky Elaine, by Grindstone) struck top form at the weekend to win the $250,000 Grade II Smile Sprint at Gulfstream. Prepared by Guadalupe Preciado, Favorite Tale was having his third run back from a seven month layoff and produced a sizzling performance to win the six furlong sprint by more than four lengths. “We hoped he could run a good race here because last year the owners wanted to go to the Breeders' Cup, but he's not eligible and it costs a lot of money,” said his trainer. “I told them let's wait a year because hopefully he could win a race and get in. So this was perfect. He's been training beautiful. For this race, he was doing unbelievable and you couldn't ask him to go better than the way he did it. We gave him all winter off. He's a gelding and hopefully we keep him running for a few years.”

Favorite Tale has won six of 14 starts earning over $550,000 and is one of five winners from Grade III placed Tricky Elaine, a half-sister to US Horse of the Year Favorite Trick.
