New Stakes-Winner for Tale of the Cat

Evergreen Coolmore stalwart Tale of the Cat added a new stakes-winner to his tally at the weekend when Grand Prix (3f Tale of the Cat x Be Envied, by Lemon Drop Kid) captured the $100,000 New Start Stakes at Penn National.

A homebred for HnR Nothhaft Horseracing trained by Gary Mandella, the 3-year-old filly had been stakes placed once in her previous nine starts and drew clear to win the six furlong contest by a length.

It was the second win for Grand Prix, who has won just shy of $120,000 in prizemoney.

The daughter of Tale of the Cat is bred to be good as a half-sister to 2016 Champion US Female Sprinter Finest City, winner of the 2016 Grade I Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint.

The 104th stakes-winner for Tale of the Cat, Grand Prix is the third winner from stakes-placed Be Envied, a half-sister to Grade I winner Burning Roma.
