Missrock (Fastnet Rock) winning the Listed MVRC Norman Carlyon Stakes

Guineas Goal for Fastnet Filly

“She’s got Thousand Guineas written all over her,” said winning trainer Robbie Laing of his star filly Missrock (2f Fastnet Rock x Miss Judgement, by Strategic)  after she returned from injury with a stylish victory in the $500,000 Group III ATC Percy Sykes Stakes at Randwick on Saturday. A brilliant debut winner of the Listed MRC Debutant Stakes back in October, she was a good third at her next start in stakes company before finishing unplaced at Sandown in a Listed event in November. She pulled up with a fractured pelvis after that run and it’s been a slow road back to recovery, but talent will take you a long way. Ridden by Hugh Bowman, Missrock was having her first run since her injury and produced her best to power to the line and win the 1200 metre sprint by half a neck. “I think she is a beautiful, imposing looking filly,” Bowman said. “All I can think of is Thousand Guineas in the spring time. Keep an eye on her.” A $500,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Cressfield draft, Missrock has recouped costs banking $500,500 from her first four starts! “We thought she could win the Golden Slipper, but she suffered a fractured pelvis in the Merson Copper Stakes,” Laing revealed. “She had to be locked up with no movement for six weeks and then had small yard rest for another month. “She’s always had the V8 engine though and that is a big advantage. “She has Thousand Guineas written all over her!” Bred by Cressfield, Missrock is the best of four winners from Group III winning Strategic mare Miss Judgement, a sibling to Group I winner Mrs Onassis and Group winners Fifth Avenue Lady and Aussies Love Sport. A grand-daughter of dual Group I winner Lady Jakeo, Miss Judgement was covered by Fastnet Rock again last spring
