Gutsy bumper winner for Ask

Trainer John Nicholson has high hopes for Ask Susan (4f Ask-Sitges, by Bob Back) after the filly’s bumper success at Tramore on Thursday.

The daughter of Ask, bred by Godfrey Moylan, was gaining a well-deserved victory under Laura Hourigan having finished three-lengths second to the high-class Augusta Kate (5m Yeats-Feathard Lady, by Accordion) in November.

“She is a right good mare and she is a half-sister to Three Swallowsnick,” said Nicholson. “There is no race for her over Christmas, so we’ll give her a break and she’ll go back over hurdles in the New Year. She is deserving of her bumper win. I called her after my sister Susan and she is here today and all.”

Ask Susan’s half-sister Three Swallowsnick (5m Westerner-Sitges, by Bob Back) won a Listed bumper at Navan in November for Gigginstown House Stud and Gordon Elliott.
