High Chaparral Colts Find Favour

Leading sire High Chaparral made a splash during the first session of the NZB Premier Yearling Sale with two top class colts that sold for $320,000.

The first of them from Karmann Ghia was offered by Windsor Park Stud and bought by Gai Waterhouse/James Harron Bloodstock.

He is the first foal of an unraced half-sister to Group III winner Galroof, the dam of Australian stakes-winners Sabrage and Pinnacles.

“He is a very sexy horse who is just a beautiful mover, very fluid in his action and that’s a quality I adore in my horses,” said Gai Waterhouse.

“He reminds me of his sire in the way he moves and you can’t get much better than that.

“He caught my attention when he was being paraded simply by the way he walked as he just flows over the ground so I’m delighted to have secured him.”

Also selling for $320,000 was the first foal of stakes-placed Princess Quality, who was offered for sale by Cambridge Stud and purchased by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
