The Duke of Alburquerque’s home-bred Frine (4f High Chaparral-Castalia, by Cardoun) put in a career-best effort to take the G2 Prix de Royallieu at Longchamp on Saturday.
The High Chaparral filly, who was formerly trained in Spain, was having his first start for Carlos Laffos-Parias as she fought off the three-year-olds Mayhem and Zarshana under jockey Gerald Mosse.
“I merely continued the work of her previous trainer. She got a much better run through than last time in the Prix de Pomone,” said Laffon-Parias. “She came to my yard with the plan to run in the G1 Prix Vermeille but after some thought we decided we would miss that and wait for today. I was delighted with Gerald Mosse who gave her an exemplary ride.”
