John O’Shea won his last race as a public trainer when promising gelding Winsomemore (3g High Chaparral x Winsome, by Housebuster) won as he pleased at Canterbury on Wednesday.
The lightly raced three year-old led throughout for James Macdonald in the Champion Thoroughbreds colours to win the 1550 metre restricted event by three lengths and has now won two of four starts.
O’Shea starts his position as head trainer for Darley following Saturday’ Hawkesbury meeting.
“It’s a great way to end and this horse has come a long way from getting beaten in a Goulburn maiden first-up this campaign,” he said.
O’Shea finish his career as a public trainer with 804 wins including 18 Group I victories and having saddled up top line gallopers Racing To Win (Encosya de Lago) , Private Steer (Danehill Dancer) and Sea Siren (Fastnet Rock).
Winsomemore will undoubtedly win more races for his new trainer Peter Snowden.
