The Henry de Bromhead-trained Days Hotel (7g Oscar-Call Catherine, by Strong Gale) continued a fabulous run for Oscar when returning from a 385-day absence to win the G2 Hilly Way Chase at Cork on Sunday.
Gerry Enright steered James Treacy’s home-bred to a six-length victory from Realt Dubh and the seven-year-old is rated a 12/1 chance for the G1 Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham.
“That was great,” said Enright, “He jumped super all the way and I´d imagine he´ll improve a bit for the run. He felt about 90 per cent fit. He was lugging to his right a little bit but it was nothing major really. He´ll make a lovely horse over the winter on heavy ground.”
Meanwhile at Sandown on Saturday, the Nicky Henderson-trained Golden Hoof (4g Oscar-Nuovo Style, by Be My Native), bred by Hugh Quinn, looked an outstanding prospect when running away with a novices’ hurdle.
