Hotel stays on to win G2 for Oscar

Days Hotel (9g Oscar-Call Catherine, by Strong Gale) returned to his best at Naas on Sunday to win the G2 Paddy Power Your Local Betting Shop Chase by five and a half lengths.

James Treacy’s home-bred son of Oscar was claiming his fourth G2 victory as he captured the two-mile contest for a second consecutive year and trainer Henry de Bromhead feels the nine-year-old can continue to shine in the coming weeks.

“He has really come to himself in the last two weeks though and we tested (beaten-favourite) Twinlight’s jumping down the back,” de Bromhead told irishracing.com. “I’d like to go back up to 2m4f at some stage but not on this testing ground; we’ll look at races like the G2 Webster Cup at Navan and the G2 Normans Grove Chase in Fairyhouse.”
