Impressive Win for Blue-Blood Encosta

An impressive winner at Kilmore on Tuesday was Zumoorooda (3f Encosta de Lago x Murjana, by Giant’s Causeway) , who resumed from a spell of 30 weeks to score a dominant victory in the 1107 metre maiden at her third start.

Placed at her only two previous runs last winter, the Mick Price trained filly has improved with maturity and holds an entry to the Group I VRC Australian Guineas in March.

A homebred for Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum that was foaled and raised at Coolmore, Zumoorooda is the first foal of Group III winning Giant’s Causeway mare Murjana, a half-sister to the dams of Group I winner Gathering, Group II winner Niagara and Group III winner Florentina.

Murjana is a grand-daughter of super producer Dancing Show (USA), whose descendants include Group I winners Redoute’s Choice, Manhattan Rain, Platinum Scissors, Umatilla and Hurricane Sky.

Murjana has a yearling filly by High Chaparral  and after missing in 2011 was covered by Fastnet Rock last spring.
