Mahler Conformation

Impressive win for Mahler newcomer

The Noel Meade-trained Mahler Ten (4g Mahler-Native Mo, by Be My Native) looked a horse to follow when scoring on his racecourse debut at Downpatrick on Friday. Meade thought the well-related son of Mahler would come on for this first start over hurdles and he looks to have a bright future. "We thought a run might just put him right,” said Meade. “I thought he wants further than two miles so we might be going for the 2m 6f hurdle at Down Royal. He has a nice pedigree, he is a half brother to a couple of decent horses and hopefully he is a nice horse. Hopefully he'll go on from there.”

Bred by Fred Mackey, Mahler Ten is bred to go on to be a smart chaser. His half-brother Native River won the G1 Mildmay Novices’ Chase at Aintree in April and Orpheus Valley, another sibling, won a Grade A handicap chase at the Punchestown Festival.
