Improving Irish black-type for Peintre

Celebrity Sevi (3g Peintre Celebre-Sevi’s Choice, by Sir Ivor) looks a horse to follow for next year after a smooth Listed success at Dundalk on Friday night.

The Dermot Weld-trained three-year-old always raced prominently in the 11-furlong Listed Carlingford Stakes and, after being headed, battled back to score by half a length under jockey Pat Smullen.

“Celebrity Sevi is improving all the time and showed a great attitude as he was well-headed there. The strong pace suited as a mile and a half is probably his ideal trip,” Smullen told

Celebrity Sevi was bred by Patrick Kelly and bought for a bargain 20,000 euros as a yearling by Bobby O’Ryan.
