Monbeg Notorious (Milan) winning the G2 Ten Up Novice Chase at Navan

Irish National next for Milan G2 winner Monbeg

Trainer Gordon Elliott has his sights on the Irish Grand National after Monbeg Notorious (7g Milan-Borleagh Princess, by Presenting) led home a 1-2 for the stable in the G2 Ten Up Novice Chase at Navan on Sunday.

The Milan gelding, partnered by Jack Kennedy, came home half a length clear of Yeats’ son Mossback (6g Yeats-Sejour, by Bob Back) to win the three-mile event.

Monbeg Notorious, winner of the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park in January, looks to be on the upgrade and Elliott commented: “Both horses are honest gallopers and big staying chasers. They handle that sort of ground and are in the BoyleSports Irish Grand National where the longer trip will suit both of them. They wouldn't want conditions too quick.”

Monbeg Notorious was bred by Malachy Daniel-Stone and Mossback by Mrs Philip Hore.
