Johannes Vermeer (Galileo) winning the G1 Criterium International at Saint-Cloud

Johannes bags another G1 for Galileo

Jockey Ryan Moore rode his second Galileo G1 winner in under 24 hours when partnering Johannes Vermeer (2c Galileo-Inca Princess, by Holy Roman Emperor) to win the G1 Criterium International at Saint-Cloud on Sunday. Moore had flown over from America, where he had won the G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf aboard Found (3f Galileo-Red Evie, by Intikhab), to score in France aboard the exciting juvenile.

It was a deserved G1 victory for the Aidan O’Brien-trained Johannes Vermeer, who had finished runner-up in the previous weekend’s G1 Racing Post Trophy.

"He ran very well in the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere. He was only beaten a length and he got a bit tight for room that day, and the ground was just quick enough for him. "He ran very well at Doncaster last week and he is a very fit, hard horse who knew his job. He has a good attitude and hopefully he can keep on progressing." Johannes Vermeer is owned by Michael Tabor, Mrs John Magnier and Derrick Smith.
