Montjeu’s admirable son Jukebox Jury (5h Montjeu-Mare Aux Fess, by Kenmare) recorded his sixth Group success at Deauville on Sunday when taking his career earnings to nearly £800,000.
Mark Johnston’s charge faced several leading Melbourne Cup contenders in the G2 Prix Kergorlay but, under a front-running ride, the five-year-old scored by three lengths from Kasbah Bliss.
Jukebox Jury, who was bred by Paul Nataf, was bought by owner Alan Spence for 270,000 euros as a yearling at Deauville.
Johnston told www.racingpost.com: “The plan was to make the pace, he set a strong one and kicked off the bend. He loves it here, I think he enjoys the French premiums! The plan is the G1 Irish St Leger and the G1 Canadian International.”
