The Grade I Breeders Cup Juvenile is on the agenda for progressive colt Not This Time (2c Giant’s Causeway x Miss Macy Sue, by Trippi) after he scored a resounding victory in the $150,000 Grade III Iroquois Stakes at Churchill Downs on Saturday.
A homebred for the Albaugh Family Stable, the Dale Romans trained colt was in a class of his own as he opened up to win the 1 and 1/16th mile event by more than eight lengths with Lookin at Lee (2c Lookin at Lucky x Langara Lass, by Langfuhr) a distant second.
Not This Time has won two of three starts and has bigger fish to fry given this race is a ‘win and you’re in’ lead up to the Grade I Breeders Cup Juvenile.
“He’s the real deal,” said Dale Romans.
“He’s spooky good and I think he’s everything I’ve always thought he was. He’s just so talented. That [slow break] wasn’t going to get him beat. Robby [Albarado] rode him well.”
Not This Time is a half-brother to Grade I winner Liam’s Map and stakes-winner Taylor S from good producing Grade III winner Miss Macy Sue.
He is the 166th stakes-winner for champion sire Giant’s Causeway.
