Latest Declaration Of War winner looks useful

Eirene (2f Declaration Of War-Za Za Zoom, by Le Vie Dei Colori) captured a well-contested maiden at Doncaster on Friday to register another victory for Declaration Of War. Trained by Dean Ivory for Michael Yarrow, the filly was sent off favourite following a good third placing on her only previous start. Robert Winston was in the saddle, taking the lead a furlong out and going on to score comfortably. The Racing Post commented: “EIRENE did this nicely enough, confirming the promise of her Yarmouth debut, despite having to challenge on the wing and still looking green … she looks a useful enough type in the making.” Winston added: “It's good that Eirene has been able to win one without getting a smack. She can win more races.”

Bred by Scuderia Archi Romani, Eirene was bought for 85,000gns as a foal at Tattersalls by Peter and Ross Doyle.
