Mahler's Red Jack in front on jumping debut

J P McManus’s unbeaten four-year-old Red Jack (4g Mahler-Hollygrove Bonnie, by Lord Americo) made it three wins from as many starts when victorious on his hurdling debut at Naas on Saturday. Big things are expected of the Mahler four-year-old, who was sent off 1/3 favourite for this two-mile maiden hurdle and prevailed with the minimum of fuss for trainer Noel Meade and jockey Mark Walsh. "Mark said they went slow and it turned into a bit of a sprint which is probably not up his alley. He'd prefer a good gallop," said Meade. “He’s entered in the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle.”

Red Jack was bred by J Conroy.
