Comaneci in Foal to Fastnet Tops Inglis Mares

Sold for $780,000 at the 2016 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale on Wednesday, royally bred High Chaparral mare Comaneci was the top lot at this year’s sale and was offered in foal to champion sire Fastnet Rock in her first season at stud.

Consigned by Segenhoe Stud and bought by James Harron Bloodstock, Comaneci is a half-sister to champions Elvstroem and Haradasun as well as to the dam of Group I winner Highland Reel, while Starspangledbanner is also from the same family.

“She’s a wonderfully athletic mare with a lot of quality and in foal to one of Australia’s very best stallions in Fastnet Rock,” Harron told ANZ Bloodstock News. “It’s a one-page pedigree which continues to go from strength to strength, not just domestically but on the international stage. “Haradasun and Elvstroem were both dual hemisphere Group One winners, while just last year Highland Reel won or placed in Group One races on four different continents. “With there being only three daughters of Circles Of Gold this mare was a real collectors item and we were delighted to secure her.”
