Victoria Regina (4f Mastercraftsman-For Joy, by Singspiel) brought Chantilly trainer Henri Devin a first Group victory in Milan on Sunday when winning the G3 Premio Elena & Sergio Cumani.
The Mastercraftsman filly, who was bred by Malcolm Parrish, was having her first start for Devin as she captured the mile contest.
“There is some story behind that win. I received Victoria Regina during the summer with a strict order – run her in the Cumani,” Devin told EBN.
“I had never had a runner in Italy before and everything has gone as planned. I train some 20 horses at home and a first Group win is a very important step in my career. I don’t know what the owner wants to do now. His target was to add some black type to her name.”
