Canford Cliffs had an amazing seventh winner in eight days when Silhuette (2f Canford Cliffs-Lisfannon, by Bahamian Bounty) made a winning debut for trainer Ann Duffield at Carlisle on Sunday.
The Redpender Stud-bred filly battled hard to land the spoils on this first run. “Silhuette is a nice filly. She was a bit green but I liked her attitude, she wouldn’t let the other one beat her,” said Duffield.
Silhuette rounded off an unforgettable few days for the leading first-season sire that kicked off with Al Shaqab Racing’s newcomer Al Jazi (2f Canford Cliffs-Rainbow Crossing, by Cape Cross) and Pitou (2f Canford Cliffs-La Suvera, by Choisir) scoring at Maisons-Laffitte the previous Sunday.
On Monday, the David Elsworth-trained Justice Lass (2f Canford Cliffs-Dibiya, by Caerleon) took a Windsor maiden, the next day Poplar Close (2f Canford Cliffs-Magena, by Kingmambo) won for David O’Meara at Musselburgh while on Wednesday, Cuppatee (2f Canford Cliffs-Fanditha, by Danehill Dancer) prevailed for Mick Channon at Catterick.
The purple patch continued when the Richard Hannon-trained newcomer Wall Of Fire (2c Canford Cliffs-Bright Sapphire, by Galileo) won at Ascot on Friday.
