Mountain Tunes (4g Mountain High-Art Lover, by Over The River) entered racing’s record books at Towcester on Thursday when becoming A P McCoy’s incredible 4,000th career winner when scoring in a novices’ hurdle.

The four-year-old is from the first crop of Mountain High and looks a bright prospect for owner J P McManus and Jonjo O’Neill after McCoy brought the gelding with a well-timed run to score.

Mountain Tunes, who was bred by Neil Tector, won a point-to-point in March and was subsequently sold for £75,000 at Cheltenham the following month.

“He´s a nice horse, he was green early but I was pleased with how he travelled,” O’Neill told the Racing Post.
