Mountain Of Mourne (4g Mountain High-Katies Native, by Be My Native) looks a bright prospect when running away with what looked a classy bumper at Wincanton on Thursday by eight lengths.
The Mountain High four-year-old had finished second on his previous start at Worcester in May and looked to have improved on that effort with this victory.
The Racing Post’s Analysis noted that the Lionel Beresford-bred Mountain Of Morne “set the standard on his Worcester second back in May and handled this different ground by far the best. He rates a fair staying prospect.”
Mountain High is making a good impression with his first runners and earlier in the month he had another impressive bumper scorer when the Noel Meade-trained Zigger Zagger (4g Mountain High-Main Suspect, by Be My Native), bred on the same cross as Mountain Of Mourne, won at Fairyhouse.
Meade holds the four-year-old in high regard and commented after the race that the Michael Heskin-bred Zigger Zagger was “a horse we like a lot, is a beautiful horse and I´d say he´ll make a jumper. We´ll go jumping now and he´ll be a chaser in time”.
