New Aussie Stakes-Winner for Holy Roman

Recently transferred to WA trainer Neville Parnham, handy five year old gelding Bass Strait (5g Holy Roman Emperor x Crystalline, by Zabeel) notched his first Black Type win at Ascot on Saturday when winning the Group III WATC RJ Peters Stakes.

Having his second run in the west after leaving David Hayes and Tom Dabernig, he took the 1500 metre feature by a long neck, taking his overall record to four wins from 25 starts with prizemoney just shy of $300,000.

A $220,000 NZB Premier purchase for BBA Ireland from the Pencarrow Stud draft, Bass Strait is from the Zabeel mare Crystalline, a daughter of Group I winner Clear Rose.

Bass Strait is the 44th stakes-winner worldwide for Holy Roman Emperor.
