New Group Two Winner for Oratorio

Choisir conformation

Aussie bred two year-old colt Ottimo (2c Oratorio x Figure of Eight, by Octagonal) posted a Black Type win in South Africa when taking out the Group II Umkhomazi Stakes at Scottsville.

The Ivan Moore trained son of Oratorio took the 1200 metre juvenile sprint by a neck and has now won two of three starts with a second at his only other outing.

The colt is the 19th stakes-winner worldwide for his young sire, who stands in Australia this spring at a fee of $11,000.

Bred by Ross Warnock’s Flame Tree Stud, Ottimo was a $65,000 purchase for Worldwide Bloodstock from the Wise draft at the 2011 Magic Millions Yearling Sale and is a half-brother to South Africa Group II winner Eight Street being from the imported Octagonal mare Figure of Eight (FR).

Southern Cross Breeders will offer the current yearling from Figure of Eight at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast, a lovely bay colt by proven Group I producing sire Choisir.
