New Juvenile Stakes-Winner for Giant

Giant's Causeway conformation

Russian Greek (2c Giant’s Causeway x Sand Dollar, by Grindstone) became the latest stakes-winner for champion sire Giant’s Causeway when he took out the Gold Rush Stakes at Golden Gate on the weekend.

The Jerry Hollendorfer trained colt made it two wins from three starts when he saved ground back in the field on the fence, before powering home to win the one mile contest by a neck.

A $100,000 weanling purchase from the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, Russian Greek is a half-brother to stakes-placed Ocean Current from Sand Dollar, who is a half-sister to Grade I Breeders Cup Classic winner Cat Thief.

He is the 102nd stakes-winner for outstanding sire Giant’s Causeway, who has left Grade I winners all over the world.
