New Stakes-Winner for Scat Daddy

Celestine (Scat Daddy) winning at Gulfstream

Improving filly Celestine (3f Scat Daddy x Mona Mia, by Monarchos) became the latest stakes-winner for her  sire Scat Daddy when powering clear for an easy victory in the $75,000 Sanibel Island Handicap at Gulfstream.

Stepping out to a mile for the first time on the turf, she raced on or near the lead for much of the trip and cruised away to win by more than three lengths, her overall record now two wins and a second from five starts with prizemoney topping $80,000.

“She’s a very nice filly,” said her trainer Bill Kaplan.

“She’s a very fast filly and she loves the turf, I think. After the first couple races we tried her on turf and it’s worked really good.”

A $100,000 Keeneland September Yearling, that passed in at the OBS June 2YO Sale at $975,000, Celestine is a half-sister to stakes-placed Haunted Heroine from minor winner Mona Mia.

She is the 38th stakes-winner for Scat Daddy, who had a double at Gulfstream with a smart five length win for Lavender Chrissie (3f Scat Daddy x Lavender Baby, by Rubiano), who made it two wins from three starts when saluting for the Dale Romans stable.
