New Stakes-Winner for Scat Daddy

Spanish Pipedream (Scat Daddy) winning at Gulfstream

Talented filly Spanish Pipedream (3f Scat Daddy x Doc’s Leading Lady, Doc’s Leader) has covered plenty of miles in her brief career, but has always shown considerable ability which translated to a Black Type success in the Cincinnati Trophy Stakes at Turfway Park on Sunday.

Prepared by Wesley Ward, Spanish Pipedream bolted in on debut at Keeneland last April before going across to the UK for the Group II Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Fourth in that assignment, Spanish Pipedream had been on the sidelines since, but indicated she was back to her best when bolting in at Gulfstream on January 30.

Sent out favourite for this six and a half furlong sprint, she led all the way and cruised home to win by more than three lengths, her third win from just four starts.

A $125,000 Fasig-Tipton July Sale purchase, Spanish Pipedream is the second winner for Doc’s Leading Lady, a full sister to Grade III winner Phi Beta Doc.

Spanish Pipedream is the 37th stakes-winner for Scat Daddy, who has made a big impression in both North and South America.
